Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) Presentation Spotlight:
According to the National Council for Behavioral Health, at least 70 percent of adults have experienced some type of traumatic event in their lives, and clinicians themselves are not immune. One’s early exposure to trauma can in many cases be linked to lapses in professional conduct which may result in disciplinary action. During this session, we will describe a trauma-informed approach when dealing with errant licensees from three different clinical and occupational perspectives. We will also explain how taking a trauma-informed communication approach in investigating and interacting with licensees can work to ensure patient safety.
